WORD ON THE STREET: School resource officers – Park Rapids Enterprise

The Enterprise asked random students at Park Rapids Area High School, “Should our schools have school resource officers? Why or why not?” These are their answers.


Sheldon Beaulieu: “I think we should have a resource officer, as it helps create a safe learning environment, and it helps emphasize that.”

Halo Finley: “I think it’s great for us because we do have some students that get into some big trouble. Like, last year, a student literally almost killed someone.”

Franklin Condiff: “I think they’re useful. I think that we should have them, just to keep everybody safe.”

Collin Bremel: “I think we should have them, because, say there’s a school shooter or something. He could come out faster than other responders and take out them out.”

Christian Beaulieu: “Yes, just to keep everyone safe if someone tries to get into the building to attack them. Just for safety.”

Cailynn Zabel: “Yes, because there’s a lot of stuff that happens in schools that shouldn’t be happening, and I think we need someone to be there just in case something happens.”
