Virgin Media offers you 100 TV channels for free – how to claim yours

There’s good news if you want some more things beamed to the big screen in your living room. Virgin Media has just announced a massive update to its dinky Stream device with 100 extra channels coming to this set-top box this month. Virgin Stream is available for free to anyone with the firm’s broadband – as the name suggests it’s a streaming device that uses the web to whizz shows and movies to televisions.

There’s a £35 set-up fee but once that’s paid you’ll then have access to those extra channels without paying a monthly subscription.

Services coming to Stream include an array of popular channels, as well as a huge range of HD and +1 options at no extra cost.

As well as boosting the channels, Virgin has also confirmed that the existing My Watchlist feature is being expanded to allow customers to access the content they love across different sources all in one place.

Virgin says that with the click of a button you can save shows to watch now or later, with saved content available to watch at a later date via the My Watchlist which now sits in the menu option bar.

Another upgrade comes to those who pay extra to add Sky Sports to their Stream box.

If that’s you, you’ll find the red button functionality has been boosted with HD match selection, along with in-game recap clips for football and F1 as well as gain access to the latest news and highlight clips.

Speaking about the changes David Bouchier, Chief TV and Entertainment Officer at Virgin Media O2, said: “We are constantly looking to enhance our TV offering and add value for our customers. With over 100 channels now available on Stream as well as the enhancement of My Watchlist and improved red button access, our customers can enjoy even more live sport and entertainment all in one place – at no extra cost.

“Virgin Media O2 now provides more IP channels than any other provider, and we will be continuing to introduce even more exciting updates and features throughout the year so keep an eye out.”

If you’ve not yet joined Virgin Media, now could be a good time to sign up. The firm is currently offering a 4K LG TV for free with certain plans.

The bundles that are included are the Bigger Movies Combo Bundle, the Bigger Sports HD Combo Bundle, the Biggest TV Bundle and the Mega Volt Bundle.
