Startup businesses will compete in Shark Tub pitch contest Tuesday

NEW PHILADELPHIA − The second annual Shark Tub pitch competition will be 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Buckeye Career Center. It will feature more than a dozen startup businesses in east central Ohio in a rivalry for $7,500 in cash prizes and professional advising.

During the first hour of the event, the public and supporters can put prop money in the baskets on each competitor’s table. Each handful of prop money costs $5.

The second hour, the top three companies will have five minutes each to give their best business pitch to the panel of judges. The judges have $7,500 to give away: $5,000 to first place, $2,000 to second, and $500 to third. There are also several accountants, lawyers, and social media advisers who will offer a free hour of professional advice to top winners. There is no cost to enter and compete.

Small businesses that want to join the competition can visit www.tuscedc.com/sharktub. For more information, contact John Kelly at 330-432-3855 or jkelly@tuscedc.com.
