Kathleen Ann (Beaney) DeMaro passed away Friday, April 14, 2023 at the McClure Miller Respite house in Colchester, Vermont.

Kathleen was born on Feb. 10, 1954 in Saranac Lake, to Phil and Anne (Ormsby) Beaney.

Kathleen graduated in 1971 from SLCS and continued her education at Potsdam State for a year. She also attended a dog grooming school and carried that over and owned and operated her own dog grooming business. Kathleen worked in Lake Placid shops, for the American Management Association and for the federal prison in Ray Brook. She also worked for Dr. Cougar for several years and had a love for animals. She worked as a social worker for 10 years for the Department of Social Services and helped many out in the community. Kathleen then went on and worked for the Olympic Regional Development Authority for 10 years.

Kathleen loved spending time with her grandchildren, teaching them to sew and bake. She always had several dogs to keep her company, liked nature and feeding and watching birds. Kathleen was on the board of directors for the humane society for many years. She had a love for reading and had a complete library in her home.

Holidays were always big celebrations with festive meals.

Kathleen is survived by her mother Francis (Leola) Fredericks of Lake Placid; her brother Leon (Denise) Fredericks and her former husband Robert J. DeMaro of Lyon Mountain; her son Robert (Jamie) DeMaro of Buckeye Arizona; her daughter Lisa Preston of Saranac Lake; as well as five granddaughters, one grandson and one great granddaughter.

Funeral arrangements are in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home, 20 Church St., Saranac Lake. Funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
