Gemini Not Always Reliable On Current And Political Events: Google On Biased PM Modi Response

Gemini is designed for creativity and productivity but cautioned that it may not always be reliable, especially for current events, the company said.

The company also mentioned that it has implemented protections against low-quality information.

After Union Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar responded on Friday to a user complaint on the social media platform X (previously known as Twitter) about Google’s Gemini AI showing biased results against PM Narendra Modi, Google India issued a statement. The company’s spokesperson said that Gemini is designed for creativity and productivity but cautioned that it may not always be reliable, especially for current events, politics or evolving news.

“We’ve worked quickly to address this issue. Gemini is built as a creativity and productivity tool and may not always be reliable, especially when it comes to responding to some prompts about current events, political topics, or evolving news. This is something that we’re constantly working on improving,” Google spokesperson said in a statement.

“Gemini is built in line with our AI Principles, and has safeguards to anticipate and test for a wide range of safety risks. We also prioritise identifying and preventing harmful or policy-violating responses from appearing in Gemini,” Google India said.
