A Twitter post on Brock Purdy, surprising his former English teacher recently made rounds. The teacher can be seen jogging to hug the QB in excitement and breaking out in tears a couple of seconds later. “Oh my god. What are you doing here,” she can be heard saying wearing a bright smile. According to the 49ers, it was Katie Chambra, Purdy’s favorite teacher at Perry High School in Gilbert, Arizona, where he played football for the school’s team.
“Sometimes you couldn’t tell he played football. He was always focused. He sat in front of the class and focused on his work,” Ms. Chambra said in an interview. Even in school, Purdy is revealed to have led the football team to runner-up in state championships. Furthermore, he was named Arizona High School Player of the Year in 2017. Despite the success, Brock let his feet linger on the ground; being friendly and being himself. “That’s just who he is. He doesn’t worry about what others say about him,” Ms. Chambra added. Thus, when ‘Mr. Irrelevant’ and ‘game manager’ were added by his name, Purdy instead decided to embrace them.

New outlook going into Super Bowl
In the 2022 draft, Brock Purdy was drafted No. 262 and last for the year. As per tradition, ‘Mr Irrelevant’ was quick to stick by. He joined the team as a 4th QB, presenting minimal hope. However, when star players Jimmy Garoppolo and Trey Lance suffered injuries, the 24-year-old rose to the position. In the following games, he led the team well to get picked the next year and ultimately stand days ahead of the Super Bowl. “I’m gonna be honest — I really don’t care,” Purdy said during Super Bowl opening night.
