YouTube Forms Health Partnerships Team

YouTube formed a new health partnerships team to address the evolving digital health needs of consumers and continue connecting people with credible health information.

The team is being led by new director and global head of healthcare and public health partnerships Garth Graham, who joined the Google-owned video site from CVS Health, where he served as chief community health officer. Prior to that, he was deputy assistant secretary at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

Graham wrote in a blog post, “For some, coming to YouTube may seem like an outlier in my resume, but I am excited to bring together all of the facets in my experience to serve as a bridge between the clinical world and YouTube.”

YouTube will work with organizations including the American Public Health Association, the Cleveland Clinic, the Forum at the Harvard School of Public Health, the Mayo Clinic, the National Academy of Medicine, Osmosis and Psych Hub.

The company also teamed up with the Association for Healthcare Social Media to build on the success of healthcare professionals on its platform—including Mama Doctor Jones, Kati Morton and Mikhail Varshavski—and provide resources to others.

Graham wrote, “My team’s mission is to empower people to live their healthiest lives through knowledge, support and inspiration. Most important, we want to ensure access to credible, evidence-based information from trusted sources. But with so much information out there, the question becomes: How do you know which information is credible? And how do you find sources that make the complicated medical jargon more accessible and easy-to-understand?”
