#ThisIsTucson — a digital vertical of the Arizona Daily Star — built a nontransactional membership program under the umbrella of its for-profit newspaper and successfully launched it during the COVID-19 pandemic. #ThisIsTucson is a unique local news experiment: a live lab that explores the ways local digital media can be sustainable while remaining totally focused on audience.
