BROCKTON — Actors Tommy Lee Jones and Ben Foster were seen filming the movie “Finestkind’ at Supreme Coffee & Donuts in Brockton.  

Brockton firefighters battled a three-alarm house fire on Florence Street that left nearly a dozen people displaced, and six residents were displaced by house fires on Tina Avenue. Firefighters also battled a house fire on Calmar Street and an apartment fire at Davis Commons

Shawna Pashalopoulos ran barefoot in beautiful meadows, laid down in lush grass and picked wild dahlias as a young girl. Her love for nature blossomed into something more — The Wild Dahlia, a high-end floral arrangement and unique gift shop.  The shop, located at 56 Main St., is housed in one of the oldest homes in Easton. The charming 200-year-old house is now a retail flower shop for self-taught flower artists which started as a simple hobby 15 years ago and grew into a thriving business.

Two Brockton house fires in two days displace 18 residents

Three-alarm house fire in Brockton leaves two firefighters injured, 11 residents displaced

Nearly a dozen people were displaced by a three-alarm house fire in Brockton that left two firefighters injured, according to officials in the city. Deputy Fire Chief Jeff Marchetti said the Brockton Fire Department received calls about the fire at 148 Florence St., a multi-family home, shortly before 9:30 a.m. on May 22.

Brockton man who sexually trafficked women sentenced to 12 years in prison

Matthew “Magic” Engram pleaded guilty to recruiting and trafficking three “young, vulnerable women,” between the years of 2009 and 2015, the Enterprise reported in 2019.  Just last week, the 35-year-old was sentenced to 12 years in prison and five years of supervised release in federal court in Boston, a release from the U.S. Attorney’s office said. Between January 2009 and August 2015, Engram and his co-conspirator, Natashia Bowman — who will be sentenced on Aug. 9 — “recruited and trafficked three identified victims, and others,” to participate in commercial sex work that Engram and Bowman profited off of, the release continued.
