Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro Provide Excellent Fit and Touch Controls

The Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro, the tech giant’s latest premium wireless earphones, are an excellent option if you’re in the market for a quality pair of earphones for your video calls, podcasts and music.

With the Galaxy Buds Pro (€239, available from Carphone Warehouse), Samsung has designed another set of earphones that may look strange, but they ultimately fit better and prove easier to control than rival products.

The earphones come with three sets of eartips, and using the correct pair is essential as they can fall out easily, but otherwise they fit snugly and securely.

The bulbous outer pod gives users a large surface area to tap, making the Galaxy Buds Pro exceedingly simple to control by tapping them once to play/pause or accept/decline/end a call.

You’ll need to tap twice to skip 15 seconds forward in a podcast or skip to the next song, or three times to skip 15 second backwards in a podcast, back to the start of a song or to the previous song if you’re more than three seconds in.

By tapping and holding down the earbud, you can change the noise cancellation settings between ‘active noise cancelling’, which will block out a fair amount of ambient sound, and ‘ambient sound’.

‘Ambient sound’ will enhance what’s going on around you while your music is playing, and there are four settings between ‘low’ and ‘extra high’.

Using the Samsung Wearable app with the Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro plugin, you can change the ‘touch and hold’ settings, switching between noise controls, volume controls, activating voice command on your phone or launching Spotify if you have it.

Through the app you can also change the audio settings (‘bass boost’, ‘soft’, ‘clear’, etc.), set your notifications to be read aloud, update the software or find your earphones if you have misplaced them.

The Galaxy Buds Pro come with a small plastic charging case, which Samsung claims you can get up to 28 hours playback with, dropping to 18 hours with active noise cancellation on, and from regular usage, it’s clear the battery won’t drain on you quickly.

In terms of sound quality, the earphones are very clear for calls, music and podcasts, although they don’t stand up to Samsung’s claims that they cut out 99% of external background noise.

The earphones are only compatible with Android devices and they pair easily when you put them in your ears within range of your phone. Samsung users will be able use the Bixby smart assistant too.

The Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro are available for €239 from Carphone Warehouse.

They also carry an IPX7 water rating, allowing them to be used underwater at a depth of up a metre for a maximum of 30 minutes.

Overall, the Samsung Galaxy Bud Pro are really good earphones that will be ideal for people exercising or on the go who need a well-fitted product with reliable touch controls and decent sound quality.
