Robotics truck latest addition to northern teams – Park Rapids Enterprise

The Northern Minnesota Robotics Conference (NMRC) recently obtained a truck that will be used to bring mobile robotics fields and equipment across northern Minnesota and eastern North Dakota.

Two years ago, with help from supportive partners, the NMRC acquired a new trailer for mobile operations that directly supports students engaging in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, & Math) activities. This trailer has been used to move a wide range of equipment to schools and events around a 35,000 square mile territory.

However, several teams and volunteers had limited availability of vehicles at their schools that were adequate for hauling the trailer safely.

The NMRC set a goal to raise $67,000 for a truck. Charitable financial backers for this initiative included primary lead sponsor Enbridge Energy and two supporting sponsors: the North Country Vocational Cooperative Center and St. Cloud State University’s environmental and technical Studies department.

Ross Lewis Sign of Bemidji donated the artwork on the vehicle. Special assistance for this project was also provided by Kenny’s Goodyear Tire & Auto in Bemidji and Diamond Buick GMC in Alexandria.
