Police Nab Young Smartphone Thief In Beit Shemesh

A 22-year-old Beit Shemesh man was taken into custody by police in the Dan District on Wednesday, January 2, 2019, apparently for using a smartphone he stole. He was tracked down by police since he was using the phone on social media. The phone in question was reported stolen in Bnei Brak on December 23, 2018.

According to suspicions, the phone worth thousands of shekels was stolen while the complainant was in a shopping center, a smartphone containing medical material about the complainant’s daughter. The suspect accessed the social media apps installed, posting items as if the victim was doing so herself. This however assisted police in tracking him down to Beit Shemesh.

During questioning, the suspect tied himself to the stolen phone. The owner was contacted, and she made her way to the Dan District station to be reunited with the phone.
