Morongo, Harrah’s casino resorts extend coronavirus closures – Press Enterprise


Officials for Morongo Casino, Resort & Spa in Cabazon and Harrah’s Resort Southern California in Valley Center announced extensions of their temporary closures because of the novel coronavirus on Friday, March 27.

The Morongo Band of Mission Indians announced in a news release that the temporary closure for Morongo Casino, Resort and Spa and its smaller sister property Casino Morongo has been extended through Sunday, April 12. The closure was originally anticipated to run through March 31.

The news release says no layoffs are planned, and that Morongo team members will continue to receive benefits coverage under Morongo’s medical, dental and vision plans and that they will continue to be paid using their earned vacation hours starting April 1.

The Rincon Band of Luiseño Indians announced on Harrah’s Resort SoCal’s Facebook page that the Valley Center resort would remain closed until further notice. Its closure was originally slated to run through March 30. The social media statement said that Harrah’s team members will continue to receive a “significant percentage” of their pay plus benefits through mid-April.
