Vodafone Idea has introduced a new recharge feature that allows the 2G customers to make their recharges via SMS. Amid the coronavirus lockdown, the network connectivity is one thing that is keeping the people united in these tough times. In the age of 4G technology, many of the benefits are directed towards 4G users. They can easily recharge their accounts through their smartphones with the help of internet connectivity. But that is not the case with feature phone users with 2G connectivity. A majority of such users depend upon the local retail stores or recharge shops for recharging their numbers. But the 21day lockdown period imposed by the government of India resulted in the closure of such outlets. Currently, the Vodafone Idea’s new recharge feature through the SMS feature is live in Assam & North East and Bihar and Jharkhand.
How to Make Vodafone Idea Quick Recharge through SMS?
Vodafone Idea in a new initiative has brought the SMS mode of recharge facility to the 2G users. The feature phone users with the 2G network can do the recharges by sending an SMS from their registered mobile number. Vodafone Idea 2G customers can avail the feature by sending an SMS to Axis Bank or the ICICI bank. The SMS format would be MOBILE10 digit Mobile No (Vodafone/Idea) Recharge amount and last six digits of the bank account number. some customers need to complete the process by giving a missed call to the designated number.
The Axis bank customers can send the SMS to 9717000002 / 5676782, whereas the ICICI bank customers can send it to 9222208888. The SMS facility currently live, in Assam & North East and Bihar and Jharkhand. It remains to be seen whether the SMS recharge facility would be extended to other circles in the coming days.
Earlier, Vodafone Idea has teamed with private bank operators such as ICICI and HDFC to offer recharge facilities to its subscribers. The Mukesh Ambani-led Reliance Jio has also partnered with 9 banks for recharging Jio numbers.
