Honor has finally announced that a successor to its X40 GT is on the way. It will have the same camera hump as the vanilla X50 rather than something newer as rumored; then again, it will also distinguish itself with a new white-and-gold racing stripe-enhanced finish.
The new colorway also gives its main 108MP main camera (complete with an aperture of f/1.75 and OIS) away in advance, although Honor has kept further spec details on its new “full-frame war god” in reserve for now.
However, renowned leaker Digital Chat Station has taken it upon themselves to reveal what Honor means by this new tag-line in advance with claims that the X50 GT’s ostensibly curved 6.78-inch 1200p display will be powered by a “Snapdragon 8+” chipset – possibly the 8+ Gen 1, as its predecessor had the 888 – kept cool with a “5100mm²” vapor chamber.
That makes for a potentially competitive screen – then again, neither Honor nor the legendary tipster has mentioned a refresh rate for the upcoming X50 GT, or if it will bring OLED to its presumably mid-range arena.
In addition, it might have a generous 5,800mAh battery, yet be hamstrung by relatively slow 35W charging. Finally, the X50 GT is said to run MagicOS 7.2, rather than the updated 8.0 version of the flagship Magic6 line. These tips will be confirmed or denied by Honor during the X50 GT’s actual debut on January 4, 2024.

I became a professional writer and editor shortly after graduation. My degrees are in biomedical sciences; however, they led to some experience in the biotech area, which convinced me of its potential to revolutionize our health, environment and lives in general. This developed into an all-consuming interest in more aspects of tech over time: I can never write enough on the latest electronics, gadgets and innovations. My other interests include imaging, astronomy, and streaming all the things. Oh, and coffee.
