Graduates-to-be retrace steps through lower grades – Park Rapids Enterprise

Members of the Park Rapids Area High School class of 2022 robed up Tuesday morning and marched through the halls of Century School, before doing the same at their own school.

Students lined the hallways to watch the procession, many of them sticking out their hands to smack palms with the seniors. A few even offered hugs.

The pre-graduation tradition was the senior class’s first earful of “Pomp and Circumstance,” piped in over the school’s intercom system as an early taste of their big day.

“It’s so important for our youngest Panthers to see our eldest Panthers at their best,” said Elementary Principal Mike LeMier. “The graduating seniors have put in so much dedication and commitment to get where they are, and as elementary teachers, we feel a responsibility to our kids to make sure they get the chance to graduate.

“The elementary students were so excited to see the seniors walk the halls today in their caps and gowns. It’s very aspirational for our kids.”

Currently, 86 seniors are scheduled to graduate at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 29 on the high school football field, or in the gymnasium if the weather is inclement.
