Google to reportedly double smartphone production with Pixel 6, Pixel 6 Pro


Google is all set to launch Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro smartphones and with the launch, the company is reportedly planning to boost its smartphone shipments. As per a report by Nikkei, the company has ordered to produce over 7 million Pixel 6 devices, which is roughly double of the entire 2020 production.
Although the report doesn’t specify the breakdown between Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro devices, it does mention that the company has also planned 5 million units of Pixel 5a devices. Launched in August, the Pixel 5a is currently limited to only US and Japan. The report further suggests that with the production boost the company is planning to target these two countries along with Europe. The upcoming smartphones won’t be available for purchase globally either. As revealed by the company earlier, Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro will be available in eight countries at first including Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Japan, Taiwan, UK and US.
The rumour mills have been churning around the new Google smartphone for a while now and most of the key details of the devices have been leaked online. Although one can not confirm the tipped specifications until after the launch.
The company has already revealed that the smartphones will be powered by a custom made Tensor chipset that is claimed to boost computing and camera capabilities through innovative AI and machine learning.
Google Pixel 6 smartphone rumoured specifications
Google Pixel 6 smartphone is rumoured to have a 6.4-inch FHD+ AMOLED display. When it comes to camera, the device is said to have a 50MP main camera along with a 12MP ultra-wide camera. At the front, it is said to feature a 8MP selfie shooter. The Tensor chipset in the handset is rumoured to be paired with 8GB RAM and 256 GB of internal storage. The device is also expected to have 33W fast charging and a 4614mAh battery.

Google Pixel 6 Pro smartphone is rumoured to have a 6.71-inch curved pOLED display with 120Hz adaptive refresh rate. When it comes to camera, the device is said to sport a 50MP main camera, 12MP ultra-wide camera and a 48MP telephoto camera. At the front, it is said to feature a 12MP selfie shooter. The Tensor chipset in the handset is rumoured to be paired with 12 GB RAM. The device is also expected to have 33W fast charging and a 5000mAh battery.
