Education minister of Punjab Murad Raas announced on Monday that high school students in the province will be getting certified courses from Google and Microsoft in software development.
The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) official Twitter handle shared the news where the Punjab minister can be seen announcing that he has been in talks with Google and Microsoft who will be coming into the country officially for the first time this year to advance the skills of high school students through certification courses in software development.
“I have asked them that not all kids are going to go to school after tenth grade. And that is just the way it is, we cannot change that. So I said not every child has to become a plumber, not every child is going to work at a store. Why can’t we give them better skills? Because the new world is technology,” he stated.
“In grade ninth and tenth, lets offer them software development courses so that they can go work in an office,” he added further.
“These kids, let’s say even if they drop out after tenth, they will have a certification of Microsoft.”
