Fire destroys house south of Nimrod

A home burned down Saturday in northern Wadena County.

According to a Wadena County Sheriff’s Office media release, a house fire was reported at approximately 11:21 p.m. on Feb. 13 in Section 7 of Lyons Township, south of Nimrod.

A responding deputy arrived to find a single-level home with the roof engulfed in flames. The fire spread quickly to other parts of the house.

The home’s occupant was already out of the house when law enforcement arrived. The occupant said the fire started in the attic near the wood stove pipe.

Sebeka and Menahga fire departments responded and fought the blaze in -23 degree weather. The house was a complete loss.

Also assisting at the scene were the Sebeka Police Department and Tri-County Ambulance.
