5th February, 2026: This morning, The Channel Islands welcomed a new Mobile Virtual Network Operator (MVNO) to the market with the launch of Coop Mobile.
Coop Mobile is entering the market as part of regulatory requirements following the merger between Sure and Airtel. The licence agreement forms part of Coop’s wider strategy to introduce more digital services and appeal to a younger demographic, as well as drive more dividend value to members. The launch follows the successful introduction of travel eSIM products in 2025.
Four Simple Plans to Suit Individual Budgets and Usage, Managed through an App or Online
Coop Mobile has been designed with extensive customer insight and will shake up the market by offering islanders something completely different. It will give customers the freedom to change their plan when they want and get rewarded for their continued loyalty.
There are four flexible SIM only plans that can be changed month to month and customers who link their Coop membership to their mobile account will also get 10% off their shopping once a month.

“Following focus groups and research with islanders, we’ve made it our mission to simplify the way people buy and use mobile services. People are fed up with being tied in to get rewarded for their loyalty, and they want to be able to use apps to manage their plan,” explains David McGrath, Chief Marketing and Membership Officer at Coop Channel Islands.
“So today, we’re changing the tired model of how mobile is done by launching four great value SIM-only plans that can be changed every month online or by using the Coop Mobile app. It’s a simple idea combining fair pricing and flexibility.”
“If you need more data one month you upgrade your plan, and if you want to reduce the data the next month, or take a break, you can. Our plans offer a choice of data from 5GB to unlimited, to suit individual usage and budgets, and all plans come with unlimited texts and calls.”
David explains that Coop Mobile works in a similar way to managing a Netflix subscription “We’ve made it simple to manage, change, stop and restart your plan. Simply use your online account or our app to select a plan and pay for the month ahead. If you’re happy you’ve got the right amount of data included then you can set up a monthly autorenewal for your plan, but if you want to change your plan the following month you can. And should you run out of data you can buy a 2GB, 5GB, or 10GB data booster to keep you going.”
Big Savings on Your Grocery Shop
Customers who add their Coop member number to their mobile account will automatically receive a 10% discount voucher each month to use in a Coop store. Discounts can be used on groceries, electronics, and appliances.
“The most exciting part of the offer is how people are rewarded,” adds David, “Loyalty is important to us at the Coop so members who link their membership number to their account, will receive a 10% shopping voucher that they can use on a single shop. They’ll automatically receive a new voucher every month, so long as they stay a Coop Mobile customer. It’s our way of saying thank you for choosing Coop Mobile.”
It could add up to big savings for households. Using the latest Jersey Competition Regulatory Authority (JCRA) Groceries analysis*, the average shopper would save £11.16 using a voucher on a shop if they moved to Coop Mobile.
“Our analysis shows that a family that spends the average £112 a week on groceries could save £11 a month using a Coop Mobile voucher. “Islanders told us they don’t like monthly plans that include roaming because they don’t represent good value – no one leaves the islands 12 times a year! All phones, provided by Grade Mobile, will be available to buy from dedicated Coop Mobile touchscreens in Coop’s largest stores, or online at coopmobile.coop.
“From today, customers will be able to buy a phone in store or online, and they’ll also be able to trade in their old device and put it towards their next phone,” explains David. “It’s another way we’re helping people do the right thing for the planet and make their budget go further.”
