Community Outreach Ministry, a nonprofit organization that provides scholarships and programs for children of incarcerated parents, held a drive-through Angel Tree Christmas event this year in place of its usual Angel Tree party.

The Dec. 13 event provided Christmas gifts for children of incarcerated parents in partnership with the Prison Fellowship Angel Tree program. The drive-through was held at the Lake Elsinore/Wildomar Elks Lodge in Wildomar, with support from Elks trustee Larry Ryan, according to a news release.

Volunteers Jennifer Ekstrom and Patti O’Leary placed gifts in car trunks at the event. O’Leary’s 14-year-old great-nephew Elijah O’Leary, who has received gifts through the Angel Tree program, also helped at the event, according to the news release.

Bob and Mona Davies, who founded Wildomar-based Community Outreach Ministry in 2000, delivered gifts to the homes of those who could not attend the drive-through event.

In-N-Out Burger sent a tractor-trailer from Baldwin Park, along with employees who cooked and served lunch.

Others supporting the event included the Riverside County Board of Supervisors, the Inland EmpireCommunity Foundation, Wells Fargo, Family and Kids Foundation of Riverside, Southland Arthritis, Cathie Smith, Emily Stitt and Denise Ronzello and clients of Shear Expressions Hair Salon, Coast to Coast LLC, Secret Service Riders and Community Outreach Ministry’s board members and volunteers.

Assistant Angel Tree coordinators were Janice Hare of Mountain View Church in Wildomar, who contacted families for wish lists, and Johnna Hose of Destinations Explored by Dream Vacations of Murrieta, who wrote wish lists on hundreds of Angel Tree tags.
