CAT S42 Smartphone Claims To Have Antibacterial Body With 99.9% Germs Protection

Ever since SARS CoV-2 has entered our lives, we all have been super cautious about personal hygiene.

Whether it’s wearing masks all the time, avoiding to step out entirely to promote social distancing, or sanitizing the surfaces that we touch on a regular basis. And one of those surfaces is the smartphone.

We already know the intensity of germs found on our smartphones. The College of Agriculture and LifeSciences at the University of Arizona has already revealed how our phones are ten times dirtier than our toilets. However, what if your smartphone possessed an ability to prevent germs from spreading and causing harm to you?

Bullitt, a company from Reading, has developed the world’s first antibacterial phone that stops the germs from spreading. The smartphone is called CAT S42 — an entry-level device which touts to be durable, rugged and safe from bacteria.

The smartphone is able to take down the bacteria with the help of silver ions which are embedded in the device’s materials in its manufacturing process. The silver ions don’t really fight and neutralise bacterias or viruses, however, it prevents it from spreading and multiplying.

As per Buillitt’s claims, the coating (which it calls Biomaster active antimicrobial agent) is capable of reducing the number of bacteria by a whopping 80 percent within 15 minutes and 99.9 percent in 24 hours

The device is completely waterproof and even the manufacturers urge its users to regularly wash the device with soap, sanitisers and even bleach to keep it clean and germ-free.

Peter Cunningham, Vice President at Bullitt Group said in a statement, “This is vital for those among our customers working within a health or social care setting, and those visiting multiple sites for their job. Using a Cat phone already allows them to have confidence that they can wash and sanitise their Cat phone regularly or between visits. The addition of antimicrobial product protection into the Cat S42 is another first for Cat phones, and will make the Cat S42 safer for users – such an important feature in the current climate.”

The device is priced at £229 which is around Rs 23,000 and will be available for purchase early next year.
