Android Auto Incident Reporting Feature Finally Available In Google Maps

Google Maps and Waze just recently received a very useful report incidences feature. While the report feature already rolled out to Android, iOS, and Apple CarPlay, the Android Auto was left out. Starting today, Google Maps in Android Auto too now shows the report icon. Here is how to enable it.

Both Google Maps and Waze are making it easier to report incidents and helpful information including crash reports, lane closures, nearby construction, objects, stalled vehicle, and even mobile speed camera and police presence. This is very useful for users who rely heavily on navigation and daily commute to work. The technology is simple. It crowdsources traffic reports and incidences from users.

Users are already seeing this option available in their GMaps across all platforms, including Android Auto and Android Automotive.

While traffic conditions were already available in Google Maps, it was limited to avoiding heavy traffic areas and rerouting closures. However, the new Report option in Maps will make it easier for all uses to report specific instances.

According to reports, the latest Google Maps Beta version, 11.140.0101 or later, is now available with this new feature and is rolling out across all platforms including Android phones, iPhones, Android Auto, Apple Car Play, and cars with Google built-in.

How does Google Maps Report Incidents Feature in Android Auto Work?

Google just unveiled a series of updates to its navigation apps – Google Maps and Waze – on how the report incidents feature in Maps work and how it helps other users.

Enhanced Incident Reporting in Google Maps: This feature takes advantage of the power of crowdsourcing to keep drivers informed about real-time road conditions.

  1. Google has redesigned the reporting interface with larger icons that are easier to tap while driving. This seemingly small change can make a significant difference in user engagement and safety.
  2. Users can now report a wider range of incidents, including:
    • Construction zones
    • Lane closures
    • Objects on the road
    • Police presence
  3. Reports from both Maps and Waze communities will be visible, with indicators showing which app the report originated from.
  4. Other drivers can quickly confirm reported incidents with a single tap, strengthening the reliability of the information.

How to Enable Google Maps Report Feature on Android Auto?

While the Google Maps incidence reporting feature will be rolling out to Android, iOS, cars with Google Built-in, Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay, it is still a server side update.

Several users on Google Maps Beta version 11.140.0101 or later are reportedly receiving this update. Sign up for the latest beta update below and download the new Google Maps update from Play Store.
