ALBANIAN lags in UK prisons are using mobiles to FaceTime friends and family despite a blitz on phone use in jails.

The Sun on Sunday contacted several through a website called The Best.

Our investigator had a ten-minute chat to Krejnar Hasanaj via Facebook.

The 26-year-old is serving eight months at HMP Highpoint South in Suffolk for possessing drugs.

He said: “I’m inside. It’s dangerous. They could find my phone. I use it to chat with family and close friends’’.

Hasanaj recorded one FaceTime chat with his parents and put it on Facebook.

He wrote they were “the best parents in the world” and added two smiling heart emojis.

DODGE DETECTION

Other Albanian lags can be seen on Facebook using phones from the jail. Many use aliases to dodge detection.

It comes after 237 mobiles and 176 chargers were seized at the Category C jail at Stradishall in 2017. They are said to be brought in by visitors or corrupt guards.

Karl Gardner, 28 — who is serving five years at the prison for possessing an imitation firearm — uploaded a video to YouTube last November of himself rapping using a banned mobile.

Boris Johnson has vowed to stamp out phone use by inmates.

The Prison Service said: “We do not tolerate mobiles behind bars.

“We’re spending an extra £100million on blocking technology, airport-style security, and new scanners to stop them getting in.”
