2 promoted as Infosys looks inside for top talent

BENGALURU: Infosys has elevated Anand Swaminathan, head of its communication, media and technology business, to executive vice-president and named Ashiss Dash global head of energy and utilities, a person with knowledge of the matter told ET, as the IT company continues to refill its top ranks.

In the tumultuous last year of former CEO Vishal Sikka’s tenure which ended in August 2017, the company lost a slew of executive vice-presidents, most of whom had joined after he took over. Current CEO Salil Parekh had said he did not believe in bringing in outside talent and that Infosys had significant management bench strength.

Dash replaced Sudip Singh, who left in January to become CEO of ITC Infotech, the person said. Dash has been with Infosys for 23 years.

“Dash was appointed in February after Singh left. Swaminathan was made EVP in January. There were a lot of exits in the EVP ranks before and after Sikka left so this helps in filling that bench,” an Infosys executive told ET, declining to be identified.

Infosys declined to comment.

Swaminathan’s profile on professional networking site LinkedIn shows his elevation to Executive Vice President & Global Industry Leader – Communications, Media and Technology. ET has reported that Infosys carved out a separate telecom unit last year to better capitalise on the IT spend of global telecom companies.

The Bengaluru-based company held its annual strategy session in Goa late last month, which focused on its progress in achieving digital targets, the urgency of expanding its employee base in the US and expanding its large deal teams. Bulking up on talent to help it win large deals is one of the few places in which Infosys has hired outside executives.
