15 Freeway paving project to start in Corona, nearby cities – Press Enterprise

Heads up, nighttime 15 Freeway drivers.

Caltrans plans to launch on Tuesday, Feb. 16, a $34.4 million project to put a new surface on parts of the 15 Freeway in northwestern Riverside County over the next year and a half.

The mostly nighttime work will involve replacing concrete slabs in freeway lanes and repaving exit ramps in a stretch of the 15, between Ontario Avenue in Corona and the 60 Freeway on the Eastvale-Jurupa Valley border, said Terri Kasinga, a spokesperson for Caltrans’ Inland Empire office.

Construction was set to begin Tuesday, a news release stated.

The project should wrap up in late summer 2022, Kasinga said.

“It is very similar to the work they are doing on the 60,” she said.

Planned work hours are 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., Monday through Friday; 8 p.m. to 7 a.m., Saturdays; and 8 p.m. to 8 a.m., Sundays, the release stated. The contractor is Myers & Sons Construction of Sacramento.
